Teardrop is just the name of a simple denial-of-service program, which basically causes an unprotected systems IP stack to hang (and mostly the system with it then). HOWEVER, it is not a trojan or virus spread by mail, but a program initiated on a remote host, that sends fragmented IP packets in a malformed format. If somebody concluded that a mail 'contained a teardrop' i'd first ask em if they had ANY idea what they were talking about, or if it was the sourcecode for teardrop. (heck.. maybe even a binary..).
To put it in normal words.. Teardrop is not a virus, but program some people use to cause systems on the other end of the net to hang. It does not spread by mail.
If you are hit and vulnerable to a teardrop attack your system will 'just' hang.
Anybody know if MINT is vulnerable to smurfs or teardrops by the way ?
