It won't light up if there is no game in it.
That info would have stopped many people spending lots of money on new kit ;)
If there is a cart in it, buy a new Jag or send it to Telegames to fix it. Expensive to fix it (about $20-30 I think) but about the same to geta new one.
Have a look on eBay - you see base units (and nothing else) for about $10 now, and you can pick up some new games while you're at it ;)
