What model external harddrive is it asci or scsi? Do you have drivers for hard disk? i.e AHDI.prg or HD Driver? If Asci Atari standard for hard disks in 1040 manual you have pinouts need get two 19 pin d plugs and make own cable find out what plug for hard disk i.e male or female. If scsi on hard drive 25 pin or 50 plug need Link type adapter i.e asci to scsi adapter and scsi cable (any computer shop). Thanks Anthony
