There are several solutions out there. I have not tried any of these since I just run a ppp link between my ST or TT and a Linux box. For example, on my TT I run STING and set it up to run at 115200 bps. Then connect the TT to my Linux box via a null modem cable. Under Linux I run the command:

pppd ttyS0 115200 crtscts passive noauth persist

It waits for me to connect with STING.

Anyway here are some links and info for ethernet.....

You can connect parallel port ethernet adapters with the RTL 8012 chip to the ROM port with this board:

Also, there is a project to connect a NE2000 to the ACSI port. I don't think any hardware has been built for this, but the schematics are provided:
