I just got ahold of the HDL Netlists for the Tom and Jerry chips. And usual with these netlist files you can easily get the chips manufactured.
Where from? The ones on Glenn Bruner's page are not fully completed, please realise. Don't get a batch of 100 made to the wrong netlist ;)
I'm with you on this one, as a gamer, bad ergonometrist and fledgling programmer (BASIC, VB6, bad 68k ASM) ;)
I never made the connection between Jag carts and PCI slots ;) The Jag controller port is the same as the 15-pin D-SUB connector for modern PC displays, if that helps. Maybe backward compatibility with joypads as well?
Which path were you heading down for backward compatibility, having all the chips incorporated in one chip (the Motarola whatever you mentioned) or having Tom and Jerry actually inside the casing? Also bear in mind timing may get messed up if a newer model of chip is used to run 68k code.
Thought of a name yet? I like the Atari 'big cat' theme - maybe Cougar?
Anyway, looking forward to developments on this, keep us updated!
Incidentally, posting a note on JI2 (http://www.atarihq.com/interactive/) would alert almost all active Jag supporters ;)
