I think that first step is make solic basic idea, next the rest how networking modem and somethig like this.
My opinio.
first a question CD-rom /DVD-rom or cartride?????
i vote for cartride, in this form is easy to put a chip in a cartride and power up the machine.
More idea to desing, a good idea, put in the hardware a compiler, (java compiler? easy to program a lot of program)
the machine have a SO like a dream cast??, a linux port is easy, or not SO,
Desing : (my opinon) basically
a chip for sound
a video chip (very powerful)
A main CPu (not very powerful a 68k 32 or 16 bit,other procesor)
Many RAM to reduce the acces time, (istead of powerful video chip)
Other thing
Usb?
Networking
Isa or pci slot (isa easy to program and very powerfull)
SUPORT FOR TWO MONITOR??????????(there isnt a video game consol that have it)
i have a good source code in asm to do it
