I had the same problem with mine...thorough cleaning didn't help. The spindle motor didn't spin up CDs anymore, so I suspected it had burned out (after a massive VLM session - I think it was Fear Factory that killed it in the end) but the motor itself still works, so I currently think it's the Laser pick-up that's faulty - it won't spin the disc if the laser doesn't find a reflective surface??
Everything else looks fine, no dry joints, the ROM is fine, the little motor that moves the head in the z-axis still works...it just won't spin CDs anymore.
