Hello,
It's true, Steem's sound chip emulation is pretty bad. This is because we knocked it up in 3 days with very little knowledge of PC or ST sound! We are planning to completely rewrite it at Christmas. At the moment simple chip music usually works okay but any attempt to use STFM samples results in silence or farting noises.
As for demos, we've never been too interested in them so we've only tested Steem with games. But we'll get some from your site and try to get them working.
Apparently there's another new ST emulator called Saint coming out in a couple of months' time which is good for demos, that ought to work better than ours.
