Alternatively, there's a small plastic pillar that sticks out from the lid, which pushes a switch to let the JagCD know when the lid is closed. If that snaps off, it can stop the whole thing from spinning. Replace it with a piece of cocktail stick glued into place, find the bit of plastic and glue it together again, or make a new one out of a piece of metal rod.

Just be careful.
