Well, actually even though PC's are based on 16 Bit, they are still only based, and not actually 16 bit at all!

The 386 PC, which is pretty much obsolete nowadays, was a true 32-Bit Machine, and since then, all PC's have only been 32-Bit.

The Memory issue you say, is not worth the problem though is it?

I mean, Ataris simply do not need anywhere near a fraction of the memory, that a PC does to do the same job, also while as far as I know, all Ataris can have a theoretical 4GB RAM, its very unlikely this will be acheived unless its by a nutter. Although I have heard from a reliable source, than 2GB has been done by a german lad ( I would just love to see it myself though! )

Also, even on Windows, on a PC, it does not actually use more than 128MB at all! Anyone who has any more than that, either does not know this, and has wasted money, or they have something that could use it, such as a SoundCard which wants it for sample data perhaps?

Of course, with the programming side of things, I do think that while Assembly on the Atari is simple compared to the PC, this again, is not that much of an issue is it?

Even a slow PC, that has a program written with a slow compiler, or even interpreter, is often many times faster than a well written Asssembly program on an Atari.

Not totally true, and you can argue that out, and will probably win the arguement too.

I will however end this load of cack with an interesting point about the above...

A group of codes ripped into Windows 95 a few years ago, and cut out all the rubbish, and useless junk, and re-written it in pure assembly language!

It was now down to 12MB instead of over 120MB, and it ran something like 18 times faster, and it had next to no bugs at all.

The sad thing that happened though, is that the coders then sent the code to MicroSoft, and told MicroSoft how, what, why and all that stuff, so the masses could also benefit from the improvements, but MicroSoft took them to court instead!

Isnt that disgusting?

Think about it though, They deliberately write the stuff so it slows your system down, and this in turn would force you to have to upgrade your PC all the time

Ah well, Thats it.
