I think plain simple action games have a much longer lifespan: I still have a lot of fun playing River Raid, Joust, Flip and Flop, Bristles, Pengo, Donkey Kong Jr and Ms Pac Man.
In terms of graphics, I'm still amazed at how ahead of their time were the LucasFilms games, especially BallBlazer.
