I'm not against commercial software. I'm not against programmers who want to make some money from their work on software developing. My points are:
1. There should be at least one free application per commercial one.
2. If a software project is discontinued (as CAB). Please release the source code, people like me could still add more features to it.
3. I agree with you when you say that free software is not the only solution. Hardware is another problem. But remember the option about the Atari-compatible OS for the PC. Just like MagicPC (without Windows). That would serve as a demonstration for the people (if you like this, go and buy a real machine). But again, MagicPC is quite expensive (what about a limited-features free version?).
Well, I think if we get togheter we can make something good for the Atari spirit.
