Well, comparing a Jaguar and a GBA is like comparing apples and oranges. I have both and like both.
If your pal wants something as powerful as a Super Nintendo on steroids that fits in your shirt pocket, the GBA is fantastic. Even as a regular TV console it would have been a great machine 5 or more years ago, and the fact that you can carry it anywhere in your pocket is truly sweet.
On the other hand, if your friend is into classic gaming and wants to buy "the last Atari", the Jaguar is a very cool item to pick up. You can find some sweet deals on Ebay - usually you can pick up a complete Jaguar with some common carts for about $50 US.
