Ok, from my side of things ( I help run North Wales Linux Users Group - I am am building the N.W.L.U.G Linux Cluster for demonstration purposes ) What I have already started to do, is complile what I would call a usefull list of what I have!
I have decided, that 90% of what I have, would not be classed as ground-breaking PD, and so, I can drop them. Out of the remaining 10%, I think that a good majority of that could be well worth it, and so I will concentrate on that.
As far as today is concerned, and going by what I have sorted through, I recon I could easily fill up a whole CDROM with PD/Shareware that is of a good quality, and of course, dozens that are not so!
I will keep on that, and hopefully, I will get a few copies run off, and what better way to get us all off the ground, than giving the CD's out for free?
I wont be able to do it straight away of course! - its in the first stages, but its going well.
I think that if anyone who could consider themselves to be a good programmer, who would give us routines/programs etc would be a great thing too!
Ok, so anyway, I will keep at the list, I will do the list in HTML Format, and I will dump it onto my site, ( as long as no one laughs at the site itself of course! ) and so if anyone sees a program they like, then they can drop me an EMail, and I will EMail the program back to them! - I think that is about as good as PD can go from me?
I also think that one large list of all the software that we come across on the net would be a good idea too! - I had thought about this, but after a while I decided, that there are already large lists so perhaps this is not such a good idea?
However, there is no such a thing as one massive database of software/sites is there, so perhaps it would be worth at least a go?
I have plenty for that too, having a fairly large list of sites, scribbled down, I may just put it to HTML and see how I think its going.
Ok, so that will do for now. Its not worth me saying things that I cannot do#, or offering somethign that is not within my ability, so I will give these a work through, and maybe in a week, we will see how it is getting, and take it further.
