Well I deleted everything as the quote in this forum wouldn't quote your entire post;-).
Essentially, you are saying a MegaSTe/TT/Falcon with a good 3d card could surpass, say a TT/Milan/Hades without one? Ok.
As for optimised software. If you are into connecting a 520ST with TOS 1.0 to the internet, and a 1meg upgrade, along with STing, NEWsie and CAB without fonts, you will be happy to know that your software is optimised. Of course the downside is that possibly some software is not optimised for the TT and Falcon, but then again someone usually gets the most out of these as well.
Using Magic, Iconnect and CAB 2.8 with NVDI and 4 megs of ram in an ST is also a treat. Watching the speed of magic on a 8 mhz machine vs say Windows on your 90 mhz pentium, gives one a better look with regards to optimised software.
I am all for the upgrade mentioned, but turning a sportscar into a tractor is not what I am interested in. I have always viewed my ST as a small sportscar. Nimble and efficient. Also quite capable of handling optimised 3d graphics. Its just 16 colours that are about this many zeros short 000,000 that some people are looking for.
I think Running is pretty efficient programming of a 3d engine for the falcon.
I think Substation is a worthy attempt for the STe. Certainly the music is nothing to shrug your shoulders over.
I like optimised software. I also like good hardware too.
Later Brian.
