Hello,
it seems like the headphone jacket is broken. The output is never disabled even if you change monitor or rip the internal speaker away.
RGB is useable for everything, if you can stand interlace.
These are approx the maximum resolutions you can get with an RGB monitor, using a little screendriver in the autofolder:
16 bit hicolour: 832*600
16/256 colour: 1664*600
Both are 50Hz interlace.
If you use VGA, you'll get less resolution, but free from interlace.
Something around 416*480 hicolour and 768*576 16/256 colour non interlaced 60 Hz should be possible.
It might be possible to finetune a bit more, but approx those figures.
If you buy a videochip accelerator (screenblaster, blowup..) you can tweak the 16 colour mode to 928*704 60Hz non interlace.
And last, if you buy a memorybus/videochip accelerator (nemesis, phantom, ct1, ct2..) you'll get the 928*704 60Hz in 256 colours, and 640*480 hicolour. All non interlaced.
Phu.. it's a small science this, if you have more questions, just ask.
