I believe that the drive will be an MFM. Possibly a RLL drive. They will be connected to a SCSI host adapter inside. Supra Hosts are unique I believe which is why people are always looking for the Supra software to format it.
Again, I find the person who voluntarily seems to answer these questions is on comp.sys.atari.st and is the author of HD DRIVER.
Now, knowing that you do have ASCI out, I can pretty much assure you that with an Link 97 or other asci to scsi adapter, you will be able to hook up a SCSI CDROM.
