Binary Seperation Plane, IIRC - just the name given to the map files themselves (carried over into Quake, hence levels have .BSP names, STARGATE.BSP, PACMAN.BSP, PAIN.BSP etc)
The ARM chip in the GBA just eats that kind of compression for breakfast, it's what Acorn machines have always been very good at (even an 8MHz Acorn A3000 could compress files for hard drive storage in realtime).
I also heard a rumour that the RISC core in the Jaggi's chips was based on ARM, due to a collaboration between Toshiba and Acorn? Seems to make sense, they could pretty much use the same binary for GBA-Doom then!
