There are quite a few sites on Atari.org alone that you can find some info on general programming....

Try to use the search abilities to get just what you are looking for.

If you are new to the Atari, then perhaps GFA Basic ( urgh! ) or HiSoft Basic ( YEAH! ) or even STOS ( hmmm? ) would be a good place to start, rather than Assembly?

However, if you want a compromise of Basic & Assembly, then try www.myatari.org as they have a good bunch of Library sources for adding extra commands in HiSoft Basic, using Assembly language, and there are some good sources available for download.

Have a look at the great stuff by a lad called D.Jones.

If you ask me, this guy must be a gorgeous bugger.
