Hmmm... Think moST of us, like me, follows this discussion with great intereST, but choose to hold a low profile for a while, to see whatīs coming out of this... ;)

Some personal thoughts; (as a user)

Someone said "we donīt need 1GHZ just to play games!!"
True, no1 ever need 1GHZ in a REAL computer system, but if games are all this is about, then me and MANY more users will choose to stay out completely! Although my somewhat enormous Atari software collection includes ~400-500 games, I never use them :-/ they just are there. I used my Falcon to make music in my studio, and to make (web)graphix with the most outstanding gfx pack, any platform: APEX MEDIA!! (...and some of the other packs:)

Someone else talked about "convinceing the rest of the world to use Atari"!
???? OK, even if we could, where the heck should they find the computers??? Not many original Ataris left, and them clones are not compatible enough... (need a DSP to run the REAL good softs, only Falcon have that) And there are not many clones around these days, Hades isnīt produced anymore, and Milan II was cancelled, just like the Phenix 260... And besides that; who really think any1 would swap hes/her IMAC for an ST?? No pixel rez, no colour depth, no nothing. Heck, no harddrive, no Ethernet, no USB, no......!

Which brings us to the next thought of mine;
Some1 talked about puting together a list of new softwares needed to be written? I have some suggestions, as a user, bout things I need/want:

1: a good video editor to run in sync with Cubase Audio! I want to make the videos for my music on the same machine.

2: I need to plug my computer right into that broadband connector, on the wall...

3: I want to plug my new digital camera into the computer. And my CDRW, And....

See the problem? No matter how much soft we write, the old sySTem juST canīt cope!

OK, The ST WAS the beST sySTem, 12 years ago. The TOS/68K combination is STill unbeated whatsoever. We all know that an 120MHZ "486DX4" canīt play MP3īs, but an 16MHZ Falcon 030 CAN!! Which proofes that more MHZ doesnīt make a bad "system" better(dos), but even a good system needs updating now and then, to keep up(TOS)...

What we need first, is to show up some new modern hardware, with up-to-date interfaces (Ethernet, USB, ATA aso) and THEN we can STart writing tons of softs for it. By then, no1 will have to be "convinced", folks would juST go get such a beauty! (I would anyway)

JuST my liīl $0.02īs, am I wrong??
