Neil,
Linux for the Atari, yes, it does exist.
For the 68000 ( ST/STE/Mega's ) was developed, but it was then given up, and it is NOT supported at all as far as I know!?
Its is however available for the 030 and above ( TT/Falcon and so on ) and while its not supported anymore for the Atari, the Amiga & Mac versions, are, and nearly all software from those, will run, sometimes a few minor modifications are needed for you to recompile the sources, but they do run.
I can give you a couple of floppies with Linux on it, but its for the 68030.
It can be recompiled to work on an ST, but I can honestly say, that you will very likely NEVER get it to run - I never have!
Try this one for source that is for the ST though ( And your STE )
