Hi Jan !
In fact there is several old games that don't work on Mega STE, don't ask me why.
Remember that if you know that a program is using code that auto-modify itself, you will have to desable the cache memory. And some programs synchronize themselves on the 8MHz CPU clock that is 16Mhz on Mega STE.
There is a CPX to desable or not the memory cache and to set the CPU speed.
What do you call "the new bits that nobody knew what they were for" ?
What do you mean by "microwire anyone?" ?
If you are looking for a way to program STE sound chips, I could help you a bit. I made some C functions some years ago to drive 8 bits signed samples on the full four volume chanels (front right, front left, rear right and rear left/ you have to use an iron solder to plug rear cinch(es) output on the LMC1992 componant) and to control the tone.
I wanted to make a C library from those functions but I miss one important function : the one to change the sample on the timer A tick from the "end of sample" signal.
I missed time to learn how to program Timer A.
If you are interested in, I could send you my source files next week. There is no copyright on it.
Bye !
