I doubt either of those connections will work. TTL is digital input. Scart is seperate RGB signals which the 8-bits don't support.

What the Atari 8-bit computers need is either a LCA / Svideo input where both Chroma and Luma signals are seperate, or a Composite input where both Chroma and Luma signals are modulated together. Keep in mind that the monitor output on the XL's are screwed up. It only displays Luma(luminance) and the color(Chroma) is missing, so the display is monochrome.

The best and simplist monitors to look for are Commodore's. Like the 1804, 1902, 1902A. These have LCA and composite inputs. A high res Sony TV/Monitor with Svideo inputs would work too. You could also purchase an ATI all in wonder card and adapt the Atari output to its composite or Svideo inputs and display the picture on your PC's VGA monitor. (This is what I do with my modified 1200xl)
