What the Atari 8-bit computers need is either a LCA / Svideo input where both Chroma and Luma signals are seperate, or a Composite input where both Chroma and Luma signals are modulated together.
The best and simplist monitors to look for are Commodore's. Like the 1804, 1902, 1902A. These have LCA and composite inputs.

Thanks for the info, Jason.
What I had in mind with the scart skt was, when looking at the pinouts, pin 20 which is labelled as (just)video and 17 which is video gnd. I thought this might be a composite input. My maplin catalogue describes a scart cable they do as having composite video,RGB video, stereo, blanking etc.
thing is, I do not have the knowledge to say I won't damage something if I connect an output to something which is incorrect.
