Hello ZeBeast,

I recomend you to use MinixFS in FreeMiNT, it has nearly the same performance as ext2, but many more GEM-programs work happily from MinixFS.

For both MinixFS and ext2 you use a tool called "fsck" which is included for reparing eventual trouble that has occoured. There is no need for defragging, these filesystems are smart enough to clear it up by themself.

The clustersize of MinixFS is 1kbyte, and I think the default in ext2 is 4kbyte. There are 65536 inodes in both, and I guess (I'm not entierly sure here) that this is the maximum number of files/folders they can hold per partion.

Regarding partion size, at least MinixFS can do partions, as I remember, 4 terabye large. So there is no real limit there (yet).
