At the end of the day though, arent you just better off giving it a handfull of smaller partitions?
Surely, if you go and give it just one partition, if something serious does happen to it, you will lose the whole lot!?
Perhaps using an approach like I have done, and use one partition for one type of program?
For example my TT has:-
C: Boot Drive
D: System Files
E: Apps
F: Graphics
G: Music
H: Programming
I: Internet
and so on...
Of course, MiniX would be your best choice as the Evil one has said, so you could easily partition it like this in Minix, ext2 is more Linux oriented than MiNT ( they do share a lot of similarities of course ) and there is nothing stopping you using fdisk or cfdisk to make these under MiNT.
One tip I was once told by Chris Crosskey, is that you can in fact plug up a few Drives all set to ID0, but only have power to one at a time.
This way you can have multiple boots on your Atari!
It works too!
I have Magic, Geneva, MiNT, and Linux all on seperate Drives like that. ( Nothing to do with your question, but there it is! )
