Hello, I use Debian "Potato" Linux 2.2.0 on my TT, and I dont know what Chris has done, but its faster than Mandrake 7.2 on my AMD 400!!! - maybe its all down to how you install them perhaps? and of course, KDE and Gnome are not worth bothering with, so blackbox, ICE, FWM, VFWM and so on are your only sensible options.
Granted, you do need to throw tons of ram at it to get anythign good on it, but 8MB is acceptable for a "VERY" simple X, and 14MB is pretty useable.
Yes, get an upgrade for gods sake, like the CenTurbo and it will run sweet as a nut ( Is a Nut sweet? )
It finds graphics cards with no problems at all, and also ST / TT ram is sorted out great.
I have recently seen though, that MiNT is a pretty great Chioce, and although its early days ( Me & a real MiNT are a new item ) I can see that MiNT is every bit as powerfull as Linux, and 14MB will be great for that.
I cannot see how 4MB ST's can use MinT properly though?
Anyway, if you go for it, then thats brilliant, but I would advise, that you backup ALL your data, or better still try to use a different drive altogether, as I have wrecked more partitions than I want to know with cfdisk/fdisk.
