AES 4.1 is definetly different to AES 4.0 and
the fact that you don't see any difference
does not mean that there is none.
Besides that it would be most interesting to
know wether you tried the different AESes
with MiNT and memory protection on or off.
MiNTNP may be more compatible but is course
not as reliable - MiNT with memory protection
is nearly uncrashable.

Anyway, if you prefer MagiC, i don't really
see why to talk you through an EXT2 install.
There's nothing wrong with using MagiC if you
prefer it.
