Let's face it.
Even if the Amiga was better than the PC, the war between Amiga/PC was won by the PC.
The Atari is better. Oh, well, but the Amiga won the war with the Atari.
Looking deeper at the roots of this, I must say the user base made the Amiga still alive in 2001.
The Amiga have much much more dedicated users than the Atari does.
Also the Amiga have the largest PD Arhive on the internet - i mean the Aminet.
When there was a danger of Aminet to be closed, dedicated Amiga users sent money and it was saved for the
community. Also there are much more hardcore ONLY! Amiga users still roaming around. Enjoing the use of their machines.
When the Doom mania 1993-1995 was around I had seen more Atari users going to the PC, but less of the Amigans.
I have 2 Amigas here - one 1200 with 68030 board and one Amiga 1000. All my computers are Amigas.
Some months ago I bought Atari MEGA STE. Just for the curiosity and for some cross platform develop or porting.I saw it was produced at 1985. The same year as the Amiga 1000. But comparing it
by software performance, colors, sound etc... blah - the Atari had Black&White color vs 4096 on the Amiga.
The Atari had 3 channels of crap Audio vs 4 sound 8bit sound.
Oh well I had Vortex PC emulator board, which emulated faster PC than PC task on Amiga, but that was hardware emulator, so base for compare.
One of the best features, which saved during the years, was it emulation capabilities.
The chameleon machine, the Atari lacks this feature.
And looking at the Demo scene. At every major scene party or event there is Amiga presence.
Where is the Atari demo scene? Also at the Assembly 2001 Amiga demo won the compo with unfair mixed PC/Amiga entries.
So even if it doesn't have much power and software base, it have great community which makes me happy for still being Amiga only user.
I gave away the Atari I had. Sorry if I sound cynical, but it was crap. I don't want to waste time with this shit.
