You got me wrong mate. I know that my Amiga A1200 have 68030 and my Amiga 1000 have 68000. I was comparing the Atari Mega STE with the Amiga 1000, not with the A1200. Didn't I mentioned this?
Well I wrote this text 5-6 times over, because such long text takes more than 5 minutes to write, and the programs crash every five minute? I just set my Amiga 6 and half hours ago, still online with one dial call.
Also my YAM crashed, before I read all your reply, so I won't comment the other things you wrote :)
Sorry for being so sarcastic, but about the crashes - if you don't want your system to crash get C64 or ZX - they didn't when you run the tools.
But when you use complex software with many commodities, and utilities at same time, it's your fault that you installed some very poorly coded one, which makes the whole system to crash.
About the scene - the hardware isn't big plus. I think the C64 scene is a bit better than the Amiga scene, but the subject is Atari vs Amiga, isn't it? Scene is formed from the people of it, not by the platfrom.
