There are microdistros that fit in 2 FD and they have X and even a webserver (I think I heard this), so, why is the 2MB barrier a problem? If you don't include all the stuff that is PC-only you can have a very light-weight kernel, and, having only one graphic chip, the X server doesn't have to be very big. Recently I saw a 386 with 4MB running Linux with X... so why not a Jag? And remember that PSX has Linux too, and only has 2MB (videoram included).
