IMHO, if Infogrames really wants to make something out of the ATARI label other then have it as a label (which, sadly, is what is probably going to happen), then they should go the console route.
If the console succeeds (probably not, but we can always dream), then they might try their hand at something extremely specialized, something like hardware for very demanding industries. I think the "middle ground" (computers, arcade games) is already saturated to the point where the return on investment would be extremely low.
OK. Have fun poking holes into this one, but I thought I'd give my two cents.
