Let's play devil avocat this time...
Get ride of your Atari machine because :
_ Nothing is sold for it at your "corner street" stores.
_ You fear to buy stuff on the net and don't want to give your credit card number to a store from another country you will have many troubles to get money back in case of problems.
_ Nobody in your neibourghood could help you in using Atari's.
_ You got only net-friends to talk this subject and you are boring to fat your net provider and phone company.
_ As for PCs, you are forced to buy extentions plug in cards to get a better quality machine in display, sound, hard disk...
_ All informations in the net about your machine are splited and wild spread every where to prevent you from getting them queekly.
_ You allways are between legacy and unlegacy with your softwares because you want to get other ones that are not sold any more but some editors still own the copy rights on them.
_ 1.44Mo floppy disks are cheaper than 720Ko warrenty floppy disks and you are enough to loose data when 720Ko format don't remain still on a basic 1.44Mo.
_ Nobody have time to develop new software.
_ Nobody remember exactly what is going on in those machines and how to build up serious stable sofwares out of them.
_ If you personnaly want to build up such software you met the boundary of those wild spread splited informations, and think again you are loosing your precious time.
_ Basic peripherials are hard to plug with, until somebody found enough time to make a driver and/or an adaptor.
Should I go further ?
The problem of Atari machines is Atari leadership.
Atari name is own by a company that will never maintain old system alife. So users are forced to do things themselves.
Hey guys, you've got to fedarated yourselves and putting this mess in good order !
I am amazing of how many websites are talking about Atari machines. I spend all my lazy time to browse on those sites to pick up here and there few informations to make my machine living a bit more ! That should not be like that ! Where is THE Organisation that will centralised all operations and developments ???
So far, some groups growed up and became active something like three month and then Nothing !
May be it is time to count our troops and make things change !

Web access : at my office on PC on spare time.
Other machines : none. I will buy a PC soon.
Products : None.
