You are exporting a midi type 1 file and you need more tracks in the file? You want to use the Program change info to move data to tracks in the final export file?
How many channels are in the original prior to exporting?
How many channels do you want in the final file?
What software are your buddies using to playback the files you send to them, is it capable of more than 16 channels?
