Manchester University had two labs packed with an assortment of 48 1040STs and Mega STs for exactly the same purpose, up to and including the academic year beginning in 1994. They were replaced with PCs, but for teaching MIPS assembler. I believe the teaching architecture has changed yet again, to ARM, as one of the professors at Manchester came from the original ARM development team of Acorn Computers.
