Hmm, my idea wasnīt soundcards in the 1st place,
of course a new TOS machine wonīt need that!
(heavy DSP, on-board DA/ADīs & MP3 chips...)
Anyway, I suppose youīre right about the pci.
Well, thatīs no big shame, couse a TOS machine
wonīt NEED pci! It will have onboard grafix,
sound, IDE, SCSI, MIDI, Ethernet and USB,
so whatīs the point?
But when it comes to external I/O devices...
To be able to use all the cheap USB equipment
around, we would NEED the translator trick.
(who would like to hand-write all those drivers?!)
Example:
I have the Olympus 9000 digital camera program
in my Falcon. Works fine with the Olympus 9000
camera, but wonīt recognise my AGFA CL30e...
Now, with the drivers translator, all we have
to to is writing a universal camera program
that could use the proper commands for ANY
camera, ripped out the dos drivers code. Crazy?
I also have the HP scanner software in the Falc,
(and for some reason scanning with Falcon gives
better picture quality than with the amd)
and it wonīt be useful with any other scanner
than the HP Deskscsan II. But with the magic
driver translator and a universal scanner soft, well... See the point? I donīt think it
would be absolutely impossible to rip out the
driver commands and let our softs use them?
Say you go buy a new DVD? There would be a CD
with drivers for dos and maybe MAC...
OK, "spog it in", and tell the driver translator
to rip out the right commands for the device.
What says the coder folk? Impossible or not??
OK, that about that. Now, what happened to all
that positive response?? Do we STill want to
STart on something new, or should we skip it?
-I could start on the site, but I donīt know
how to invoke forum functions & such, I would
need pretty much help. Better then if someone
who know that stuff would take on the job...
-Do we have a webmaster out there?
