Yeah, the TT spanks the ST in terms of speed.
No doubt about that is there!
Even the falcon is a tad shabby compared to the TT for raw speed, but there is a hell of a lot more you can do with a faster processor
For a start, you can actually watch movies at long last on your "Little" Atari ( Pisses PC owners off anyway )
When you load a midi file into a program, it no longer takes ages to process, its done in 2 seconds flat.
You can now actually use MiNT at a fair pace too. Still not quite up to the speed of Magic of course, but at least its useable ( HA! - I knew I would get that one in somewhere )
Compiling a 200k C Program is now done in 6 seconds instead of over a minute!
There is dozen of similarly obvious reasons to get a faster Atari.
The biggest single use I have really needed the extra speed though, was when I was archiving a load of software... I was just grabbing hold of a Folder, dropping it onto LZH.TTP and doing this for dozens of folders, getting them all archived as quickly as possible, and while all of those were archiving, it was still more than fast enough not to notice ANY kind of slow down at all, and this was while I was playing Goldies MOV File, so we are well talking PC territory here arent we?
The idea behind mine, was simply because I had taken the plunge of getting a TT, saw how much faster it was, and wanted more, got the cat, and then PC fever took over me for a while, and I wanted even more, and now, if I saw an Atari clone that said 500mhz, I would sell the kids into slavery!
Actually, I think I just might... Hmmm...
