Talking about the chip for new Atari clone. As I'm not good at electronics I can be wrong but I hav an idea.
I just read the specs of Transmeta Crusoe chip. It's partialy hardware/software. It means the logic is implemented in hardware but the software layer makes the possibility to for ex. change the instruction set. For example - when you're building PC x86 based computer the software layer is 'emulating' whole x86 series instrucion set. Then it's translated to internal instructions, send to hardware layer and processed. It means - if I understood it right - that we can create new software layer (or maybe it even exists for now) with m680x0 instruction set and use this processor as a substitute of real Motorola 68060.
Sorry about this quite strange tech info but this is a short mix of 40 pages official info read in a bus with some cups of coffees and my total misunderstunding of electronic stuff internals. I can be wrong. Does someone check it out?
