Unfortunately, the Amiga has progressed so much in the last few years...
The sad and annoying fact, is that with the PC, the powers that be, did not support the older machines, and look where that is now!
Its the same with the Amigas to a point, and what you get on the Amigas now, is something that is beyond what a Mac can do, even to the point of them emulating PCs fast enough to be comparable to a pentium.
What is the atari doing?
Everyone seems to be talking about the Falcon and its DSP, but just look at the facts, because DSP is old news these days, they come on loads of soundcards these daysm and they are not the slow one that the Falcon has either.
The biggest problem that has caused the downfall of Atari, has been ST users who were not willing to trade in their ST for a better model.
It started on the Floppy drives... while only a few would upgrade their 360k Drive to a 720k, the same has happened with the RAM, and the same has happened to the Machines, so while the software has progressed, its had to stop at a point, where it will run on an ST still.
Its too late now, but face the facts...
If Atari had sold more Falcons, they would have been able to support it more, and in turn, they would have released a better model, and if not, by then the clones would have at least had a better user base than just a few hobbyists.
Those of you with something more than an 8mhz ST can, or at least should see what I mean, but those with 8mhz ST's have nothign to say as far as I can see.
