Alex,

Youīre right, Iīm not a very tech-minded
person, so Iīll stick to my experiments
with these multiplexed-CPUīs cards, and
leave the more complicated stuff to real
good tech folk, like... you? :)

Hm, I donīt ignore that MagiCMAC is no Atari,
but it IS the fastest one to run Atari APPs
so far... And really, some folk has asked for
Atari apps on... intel!! How ībout that?! :(
Old 040 MACs are very cheap, so why not?
At least until we DO have something better?

> If You use a Mac You can as well use MacOS.
I am. MagiCMAC OS runs on top of it.
But yes, I wish it didnīt. Canīt change that
though, guess Iīm not techy enough...

> -An Atari has a ROM-OS. It seems many people don't
> understand how important this feature is and was.
Iīm certainly with you, here! Nothing else
will do, not now OR in the future.
AND the ugly HD-swapping shit is tabu, right?

> -An Atari has a MIDI-port. A big part of
> the users are musicians!
Like me. Been doing music on Ataris since ī89.
MIDI is important, but most synths have SCSI
communication nowdays. The TOSter will have both. :)

> -An Atari is an Atari. Sounds strang but the fact is that

I did. Loong before I installed MagiC...
Still use Photoshop now and then, I like it :)
And the fact that MagiC OS is running on top
of MAC OS didnīt leave me much choise, eh?
Anyway, MagiC IS a OS, not an emulator. Or?

> The 68k is dead.
-Certainly not. Infact itīs doing very well.

> Long live the ColdFire.
Indeed. Just give it a suitable OS, and some
APPīs, and it WILL live... Oh, and a FPU
wouldnīt hurt, now would it? ;)

> TOS/MagiC/MinT is faster than Winux.
True. Iīm certainly not arguing against that...

> the coldfire or xtos are not even mentioned.
Sure? -I remember seeing them both mentioned
quite a few times around here...
OK, we all know they exist, but what are we
supposed to do about that? ;)
No, just kiddiīn. I havenīt looked into xtos
yet, but I heared it should be quite something.

> a PPC-Atari would be far too expensive!
May be so. -And way too slow, too.
The emulation would beat its guts, itīs true.

> The Coldfire-chip is really extremely cheap!
It should be. With a strange instruction set
like that, who would pay much for it??

> You can always feel that You always run only an
> application which allows using Atari-progs.
Well you could say that, thatīs what an OS do,
ainīt it? Anyway, yes MM IS a substitute.

> So, I want a real Atari.
Me too. Iīve started on some funny things,
pity if Iīd have to do all this alone, cos
then Iīd be the only one to HAVE a TOSter... ;)
