Well, lets be honest, it should relly depend on how you are going to impliment the OS that should decide the FS?
If you are going to want better compatibility, then surely just FAT16 would be the better.
Fat32 is a bonus, but its NOT compatible with any standard Atari ( Neither is FAT16 come to think about it... Ataris are FAT12 arent they? - or is that just the Floppy? )
Anyway...
MiNT would just love some form of Journal FileSystem I would have thought, but again, if you want better compatibility, then some programs would fart at anything other than FAT.
What JFS were you thinking of?
Go on, tell me you were looking at ext3?
I would seriously think that TOS 2.6 with a bog standard FileSystem would surely be the best option for compatibility, and of course, if other Filesystems were wanted / needed then they could be added via extra modules, much as MiNT / Magic does them.
