ok, lets see:
how have you installed freemint?
did you simply copy the mint.prg into your auto-folder?
you will have to make a directory called MINT on your drive c and there you have to copy the mint-configuration-file mint.cnf.
in mint.cnf, you will find a parameter
"newfilesys" or similar,
you must assign all your harddrives or partitions here:
NEWFILESYS=C,D,E,F.....
beneath that, there is another parameter
"VFAT", witch assigns the drives using long filenames. do not assign your drive C (or your bootdrive) in this parameter, this may cause trouble! no long filenames on boot drives!!! NEVER!!!
after all, you have to set up your CD-ROM drives with the correct MiNT-XFS-driver (f.e. spin.xfs) or whatever ExtenDOS uses,
but maybe others know better about that special point.
