1. 8MHz for the ST, STF, STM, STFM, STE and Mega ST. 16MHz in the Mega STE.
2. Yes the ST,STF,STM,STFM and Mega ST have a custom IC called the MMU which is quite appropriately called the Memory Management Unit :-)
The STE and Mega STE have another custom IC which, if my memory serves me correctly, integrates the functions of the MMU, SHIFTER (video chip) and possibly others (such as the GLUE), but I am not that clear on the configuration of the STE series custom chips as I don't have one myself.
3. The ST,STF,STM,STFM and Mega ST have a Yamaha FM soundchip which can produce three independent programmable audio channels and additionally the IC has a white noice generator.
The STE/Mega STE has this chip and additionally a four channel (although I have seen articles quoting more, which I am quite sure is incorrect, unless they are quoted by combining the 4 DMA channels + 3 FM + 1 White noise as 8 channels) DMA 8 bit stereo. Two channels in each of the stereo outputs (ie. 2 + 2 = 4).

Hi,
I need some info for a friend....
1st, the 68000 in the STFM and STE ... what Mhz does it run at? i.e. 7.25 etc...
2nd, does the ST have any kind of memory management onchip?
3rd, how many channels and at what frequency does the sound chip run at?
Thanks
