Hi Mark,
I know you think amiga is very cool and so on. But views have always differed on what computer was better. Atari has always been superior in terms of DTP, text publishing and music applications.
As for the future. A new Amiga seems like hype to me. I first got the news of the new super amiga in October 1998. And now there is still no Amiga2.
In the recent years the alternative computer userbase shrank to a handful of enthousiasts using old machines like C64, acorn, amiga and atari.
I think it's really cool how people are becoming good friends and trying to push their machines to the limit.
All new non-PC machines in the recent years haven't been big successes. I suspect the amiga2 will undergo the same faith.
Also todays non-PC machines all have alot incommon with the PC. The whole idea of expension cards is a PC filosofy. You will also have to use PC hardware on the amiga2. Theer is no other way to get cheap and high performance components anymore.
Sorry to spoil your view on it. Just stick to the amiga you have. The amigascene is quite cool and people are really pushing the old beast to it's limits.
