Well, 6-chip based TOS (6 x 32 KB = 192 KB) are quite common. You can take out the ROMs from basically any other 1040 or Mega ST and pop it into your 1040 - The latest TOS that fit into 192 KB was 1.04 though.

If you want to upgrade beyond that (with 2.06 being the only alternative then), you would definetly need a TOS card which enables your 1040 to access 2 128K ROMs.
