Basicly there is only head to head comparison, it simply boils down to the instruction set (not just RISC or CISC).
For example both 68K and 80x86 are CISC however the 68K is generaly faster (as the same operation oftern takes more instructions) - but even then the 80x86 has some advatages over the 68K.
It is only "Real Life" comparisons that count (such as the Quake example).
