No kidding... when the Atari was in full swing I rember calling Atari BBS's and downloading all kinds of stuff only to read a magazine later that these were commerical programs. This was a public board with public access.
Big reason why software was not that good of a market for the Atari. Personally I think thats why more software companies started developing for PC's and Mac's cause they had less pirating due to stupid users. Only a PC person would like a inflated operating system like Windows95 or the gimped CP/M clone DOS.
