I had the same experience with my Phantom.
At 50, the DMA had troubles reading the HD,
so only a very few things could be read.
It might be the SCSI chip that doesnīt cope?
I think the SCSI chip (53C80) is async?
Then you could try speeding up the CPU/BUS/DMA,
but leave the SCSI chip at a lower speed,
for a more secure HD access...
I had that in mind, but the Combel went
before I had a chance to try it out.
I will do it with the Quadra 800 tho
-Itīs the same problem there: over 52,
it has some minor problems reding the HD,
so Iīll try to figure if the SCSI chip
(53C96) is async, and if so, divide the clock.
Its more difficult labbing with MACs than Atariīs,
since we have all these documentations like
Chips&Chips and the schematics, indeed.
MACīs internals are very confidential secrets,
so most of the time I have to guess. (almost)
Does the Nemesis and CT1 both plug into the
Falcon BUS slots? If so, I think they disable
the Falcīs own CPU, since these connectors
brings out all CPU signals. One could as well
pick out the 030 from the MOBO and connect it
to these pins, and I think thatīs what these
speeders do? Simply replace the internal CPU?
That will give better timings and it would
also explain why they are more complex than
the Phantom, as it only replace the clockOSC.
But there again, they maybe does the same?
I havenīt seen neither of them, so I donīt know...
Do they have a 030, like the CT2, or not?
hmm, at a 2nd thought, I might buy me a new
Combel after all, just to try out a card with
a bus resizer & a 040, in the Falc bus slot.
Think youīd like a tasty project like that? ;)
I have some spare 040s, LC&RC, ranging 20-40.
Just pity the RCīs FPU mismatches a bit...
