Yes, even bplan e.g. Merlancia who build that new G4-Amiga upon this "MorphOS" first claimed that they would also do a TOS-version,
and then came out with the decision that a TOS-Merlancia would have to sell at least 1000 times.
I doubt they can sell 1000 Amiga-Merlancias 8-/
In an earlier state of the xTOS-project they made some technical details public.
These were saying that as long as the ColdFire4 is not available yet, the machines will get the ColdFire3, which you can easily change for a ColdFire4 later.
They also promised to include MIDI, EIDE and USB.
As well as the DSP56301 (included on the Deesse) as standard.
If they manage to sell that thing for less than 1000 Euro it will have a full equipment at the same price of the Milan, which was completely naked.
But don't blame Ali G. for the failure of Milan.
Yes, I think terrible mistakes have been made,
all in all it was the continuation of pure and original Atari-policy.
But at least he and Milan did something!
We have until now a linear development of Atari-clones since back to 1994.
T40-Hades-Milan-(xTOS?)
This is something that the (much more numerous) Amiga-scene is completely missing.
Of course, when I read the promises that Milan made in 1997 I get very angry.
(sell 100.000 Milans, reanimate the old Atari-traders, ...)
But the Milan exists, it is ...errm...nah, it doesn't run stable at all but it is the bestseller of all clone so far...
In my point of view, the failue of the Milan2 was not such terrible.
With te Hades060 there has alrady been a 68060-clone and the 68060 was much too slow even 2 years ago.
Bye, Alex
