No, ok I see your point, but in my particular system, I loaded in a directory, which was 125 Files, and totalled 30.143.740 bytes, it took 7.3seconds when both compressed ,and not compressed.
The only fair way I could do this test was right after a reboot because this made the cache useless.
The speed of the system and Disk are very important, and when the system is faster than the disk, thats when it will be the same speed as the processor has spare time towork the compression routines when its faster.
Thats what I mean!
